How a PRP session works at Meeral
- Assessment. Our dermatology team checks the pattern of your hair fall and asks about diet, stress, medicines and recent illness. Some hair fall needs a blood test or a different treatment first.
- Blood draw. A small amount of blood is taken from your arm, like a routine test.
- Preparing the plasma. The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma.
- Injections. The plasma is injected into the thinning areas. With the meso option, a vitamin and nutrient solution (mesotherapy) is added.
PRGF (plasma rich in growth factors) is a different way of preparing the plasma. We explain at the consultation whether the extra cost is worth it for your hair.

Who should not have PRP, and the risks
PRP is usually not advised if you:
- Have a low platelet count or a blood clotting disorder.
- Take blood thinners. Do not stop any medicine without your own doctor's advice; tell us what you take.
- Have a scalp infection or open sores on the scalp.
- Are being treated for cancer, or are pregnant.
In plain words, the side effects are: soreness and tenderness where the injections went in, mild swelling, small bruises, and sometimes a headache that day. A short spell of extra shedding can happen early in a course. PRP slows or improves thinning in many people, but it does not regrow hair on bald areas; for that, a hair transplant is the option to discuss.
