How scaling and polishing is done at Meeral
- Check-up. One of our PMDC-registered dentists looks at your teeth and gums, checks for bleeding and gum pockets, and tells you if anything else needs attention.
- Scaling. Tartar above and just below the gum line is removed, usually with an ultrasonic scaler and fine hand instruments. You may feel vibration and a cool water spray.
- Polishing. A soft polishing paste smooths the teeth so plaque has less to stick to.
- Advice. We point out the spots your brush misses and suggest when to come back.

What changes the price: heavy tartar or gum disease that needs a deeper clean under the gums, sometimes over more than one visit. If you need more than a standard clean, we tell you the price before we start.
For comparison, Marham's Rawalpindi scaling and polishing page gave the usual price as Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 when we checked in October 2026.

Who should tell us first, and the risks
- Pregnant? A clean is generally safe and helps with pregnancy gum bleeding. Tell us so we can plan around you.
- On blood thinners, or have a heart condition for which your doctor gives antibiotics before dental work? Tell us before the visit.
- Very sensitive teeth? We can numb the gums or work in shorter stretches.
In plain words, the side effects are: some gum bleeding during and just after the clean, sensitivity to cold for a day or two, and tender gums if there was a lot of tartar. Scaling removes tartar; it does not remove tooth enamel. Gaps you notice afterwards were filled with tartar, not tooth.
Scaling also matters before bigger work. Gum disease is treated before dental implants are placed.
